about me
Sharon Free is the Creative Diva! With over 25 years' experience as a painter, illustrator, graphic designer and with a BFA in studio art and design, I am dedicated to giving you my best as an original creative thinker and maker.

I received my first artist's tools in a box of Crayola crayons at age 3. I found my early bearings as a colourist by combining Magenta and Mahogany and imagining colours as real, something one could feel...ice blue was supposed to be icy, Prussian Blue had that battalion feeling.

After graduating high school, where I had a temporary dalliance with thoughts of becoming a lawyer (!), I attended college in New York and focused on my studies on painting, the science of colour, graphic arts and advertising.

I graduated college and hit the streets of New York City with my portfolio in hand. Creative jobs were scarce during the early 1980s, but I landed a job as an editorial/production assistant at a publishing house in Westchester County, NY. After that short stint, which gave me lots of valuable knowledge and hands-on application in design, pasteup and mechanicals, and my first experience with pre-Macintosh Apple computer typesetting, I worked in conference and tradeshow planning and development, as well as direct mail marketing and public relations. I freelanced illustration and design during those times, whilst working within a corporate environment. I consider myself well-rounded in both the creative and business sides of the arts and their practical and creative applications.

After moving to Greenville, SC in 1998, I dedicated myself to my full-time design business. Doing what I love has come full-circle, and I am happy to provide you with my talent, knowledge and experience.
